The Miracle Morning Review + My UPDATED Morning Routine

{Source)

Hello world!

I know! I have been MIA since December, but do not worry, I am fully back to work. So much went on in the last couple of weeks, and that is how life is. There will be ups and downs.

So, I am back.

I just finished reading The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod and after reading it, I realized mornings are taken for granted. Yes. A lot of things can be done in the mornings which can help us have a great day ahead.

Reading this book has made me improve upon my morning routine. I do have a morning routine, but reading this book has helped me improve upon it.

I had heard so much of this book, I did not know where to get it, so I asked a bookworm, Nesta whether he had it and he “lend” it to me. Thank you Nesta!

The beginning of the book was quite tragic. Reading about an accident that happened, and how bad it was. It might make you want to stop reading, honestly. Reading it further made me realize, life is a big painful thing we are all passing through. The author of the book went through certain things that made life seem cruel.

Apart from that, this book was easy to understand, interactive and easy to follow. Most reviews were talking about the writing being so cringe worthy, but I liked it. He wrote it like he was talking to you one on one, and I think that is what we all need.

The book gives you easy step by step ways we can make our mornings exciting, fresh and fun. I recommend this book to everyone.

I give this book 4 out 5 stars.

Now unto my morning routine…

I have made some changes to it. I am currently trying to live life more fully. Not just by going places and having fun, but also, adapting habits that will make me happy, that will help me get closer to my dream life.

Since my alarm goes off at 4:44am, I will extend it to 4am, so that I can enjoy the miracle morning to the fullest. A few new things I would be adding are:

5 minute silence
Affirmations
Visualization

These are the few new things that I would be adding to my morning routine.

If you are finding ways of trying to have a perfect morning even if you are not a morning person, I recommend reading The Miracle Morning.

Let’s Chat: What do you dread most about mornings? What do you think about the book if you have read it? What would you like your mornings to be like?

MDB Lifestyle Report: The Art of Hygge (Blogtober Day 12)

Hello world!

Welcome to another day of The MDB Lifestyle Report, where we talk about lifestyle trends.

Have you ever heard of hygge? This might sound like a new word, but actually, you might be practicing it unintentionally.
Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) is the Danish concept of coziness and intimacy.
In both Danish and Norwegian, hygge refers to “a form of everyday togetherness”, “a pleasant and highly valued everyday experience of safety, equality, personal wholeness and a spontaneous social flow.” (Wikipedia)
The noun hygge includes something nice, cozy, safe and known, referring to a psychological state.
Reasons why I said you might be practicing Hygge already. Let’s see….

When it is raining, you try to make your environment cozy, so that you can read a book as you listen to the raining.
You partake in simple pleasures and you might call that your quiet peaceful moment
You try to get comfy and cozy.
If you have ever tried to do any of these, then you are already practicing hygge. Just that, you never knew the name for that.
Anyway, if you want to know more about it, and if you want to try it, then you better continue reading this post.
How to master the art of hygge.

1. The main ingredient of practicing hygge is making a cozy atmosphere. Make sure the environment is comfy and full of good warm.
2. As we try to make the atmosphere cozy, you might consider the brightness of your lightening. Try to have soft lightening. You might use sweet scented flickering candles, fairy lights warm toned lights to bring a feeling of warmth.
3. Also, consider your furnishings. You might incorporate cushions and soft duvets soft textured blankets, mostly when the weather is cold. Fluffy surfaces is a plus.
4. Consider your clothing. Wear an outfit that should be comfy. If it is to the extent of wearing a pajamas. Go on ahead and wear it.

5. Turn off your electronic devices that might distract you. Try not to use your phones, and do something that might not require the use of electronic devices.
6. Treat yourself with a good snack. It might be a glass of drink, or a bar of chocolate or even a bowl of popcorn.
7. Use this moment to be grateful. Close your eyes and think of the things you are grateful for. You can decide to write it down.
8. You can also use this moment to do a hobby. Maybe, you love to write, use that moment to write. You love to draw, paint, kill art? Just do it. Play your guitar, piano, read a novel, magazine. Just do something that makes you happy. You can just lie down and listen to soothing music.
9. Hygge can be a form of a date. Use this moment to spend time with the one you love, a family member, a friend, or a significant other. Enjoy every cozy moment of it. Avoid drama at all cost.
These are some of the ways you can master the art of hygge.

11 Times Rihanna Stole My Heart in Terms of Style (Blogtober Day 11)

Hello world!

Rihanna. Rihanna. Rihanna.

Rihanna is one of my favourite artiste, no doubt about that. I see her to be a creative person in terms of style too. At first, I wasn’t a big fan of her style. She can wear very ugly tees and she thinks she is rocking.

Now, I think I am beginning to love her style, most especially her street style. Even though, I never consider myself a fashionista, I am still on the move of stalking style images on the internet, most especially, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr and We Heart It.

Anyway, today I will be showing you 11 photos that made me realize, you know maybe Rihanna might be my style icon.

Bonus one because, we just can't have enough😉😉😉

3. I have been nominated as UMB Most Influential Student Blogger. Text MBA MARIETTA to 1736 across all networks. Thankies in advance and muaahh. (Screenshot) 💋💋💋

MDB Lifestyle Report: Bell Sleeve Outfits (Blogtober Day 2)

Hello world!

Welcome to another chapter of the MDB Lifestyle Report, where we discuss and talk about lifestyle trends. If you missed the last one, you can read it here.

We spoke of The NoMakeup Revolution, where no makeup is the new makeup. Today, we are entering into the fashion world.

Behold! The bell sleeve.

Bell sleeve outfits have sleeves that flare out wide.

If you are an avid follower of modern fashion trends, you would have seen so many beautiful styles of the bell sleeve outfits. This might be too late to write this but the embrace we are giving it makes it fun to talk about.

Some of the flares can start below the elbow or wrist. Some even start all the way from the shoulders!

Akosua Vee

The question is, what inspired such a style? Is it an old trend that has made a comeback, or it’s a new trend all together? Well, if you know the story and the inspiration behind the style, please tell me in the comments.

Blogtober Day 1: Blogtober

Hello world!

We are officially in October!

One reason why I am excited? It’s almost Christmas. Like 83 days to Christmas.

Alright! I am just excited December is getting closer.

But that is not the reason for this post. I promise it will be a short one, don’t worry.

It is the month of October, where bloggers can blog throughout the month of Blogtober October.

It is very much similar to blogmas (which I will gladly participate this year too), but at times blogtober does not have a theme.

The Marietta DeGrant Blog will be participating in it. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be blogging during the weekend due to some inconveniences.

Cheers to October! Cheers to Blogtober.

In the mean time👇

The Blog is Four Years Old!!!

Hello world!

My internet baby is four years old today and I am grateful for her existence. Being a blogger has taught me a lot of things and has made me stay focused in every aspect in life.

To celebrate her blogiversary and I decided to own a logo. I mean, I should have owned one a long time ago. So I contacted a creative friendof mine and he worked creativity.

Behold! The Marietta DeGrant Blog Logo.

One thing I love about it is the vintage looking typewriter on it. When I build my future home, I will buy a vintage typewriter and just put it in my studio/working room/library as room décor. I love the idea of typewriters and I just want to own one just because I am a writer, a soul of words yet to put it on old smelling papers. The sound alone makes me happy.

I think a pink one will be better.

Contact him with an idea and he will deliver it. He is very active on Twitter.

Cheers to a new blogging age! More things coming for this blog!

p.s. The Marietta DeGrant Blog will be doing Blogtober; blogging every day in October. So stay tuned!!!

MDB Lifestyle Report: No Makeup Revolution

Hello world.

So, there is this new segment on the blog, known as MDB Lifestyle Report. In this segment, we shall talk about lifestyle topics, but it will still be under the Lifestyle Tag.

Today’s post is all about beauty. We will be talking about the No Makeup Revolution. If you don’t know what I am talking about, well, nowadays, no makeup is the new makeup.

I know you might be wondering why no makeup is the new makeup. In this era, makeup is getting all the attention and there are new and fun ways of wearing makeup (like colourful mascara). So where from the idea of no makeup is the new makeup? Well, you may never know. A revolution within another revolution.
{Source}

Instagram alone has over 14 million posts on #nomakeup, which means, it is going on well, and being accepted. You might want to practice and join the team no makeup.

The question is, how do we prep our skin for the no makeup look?

The answer is simple. Just how you prep your skin to wear makeup, it is the same way of prepping your skin to not wearing makeup.

Here are three ways we can prep our skin for the no makeup look.

Exfoliate weekly

Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells using chemical or mechanical means. You can use a loofah or body brush to exfoliate your skin.  It has an amazing effect on your skin.

Hydrate frequently.

Drink enough water. You probably might have heard it too many times, but you know what? Water is the answer to a glowing skin. If you want your skin to be forever grateful to you, drink. More. Water. If you have difficulty of drinking water, download an app to give you constant reminders to drinking enough water frequently.

Moisturize

If you are able to follow the rule of drinking water, there is something you must do for the surface of your skin. Moisturize. Moisturizing helps your skin to glow outwardly. You do not want your skin to look dry and dull, right? It makes your face look and feel younger, and keeps your skin hydrated.
Are you ready to try the no makeup look? Then Join the #nomakeup team!

Here is my no makeup look.

Let’s Chat: Are a part of team makeup or team no makeup?
Have you ever tried the no makeup look? How did you feel?
Do you think the no makeup revolution is here to stay?

Life Lately

Hello world!

It’s been a really long time. What I know is August is ending and September would begin. Also, 2018 is 4 months away. Yes! I will allow you to gasp. Also! We will officially enter the –ber months: September, October, November and December. And December is the month I am despacito waiting for.

Please note, despacito means slowly. Ain’t that right?

*whispers* I’m about to start listening to Christmas music. Don’t tell anyone.

What have I been up to? Well, nothing much. Life has been filled with the cold weather and reading and writing poetry. I just finished reading The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn and I love the ending so much. It was a very happy ending. I don’t know but I imagined Edwina to be Charlotte "Lottie" La Bouff in Disney’s The Princess and The Frog. Tiana’s best friend.

Ahem. I guess it’s only me.

Can we talk of the Chale Wote Festival? I attended! For the first time ever.
