Kelewele Date with Marietta (29/04/16) Beach Break

Hello! Hello!! Hello!!!

*sighs* Last month, we did not have a kelewele date. Well, it is back, and I feel happy and inspired not to go on blogging break again. Unless, there is a critical reason not to.

Welcome to the 3rd #keleweledate of the year. But there is a little bit of bad news.

Plantain is not in season *gasps*. Which has made plantain to be super expensive. That explains the reason why I haven’t had kelewele in April.

Bummer.

But that doesn’t prevent us from having our date. Let the date begin………… (Drumroll, please).

Since I came back from the blogging break, I gave some life updates, so go here to read it.

Nowadays, I don’t want to see the beach again. I have been visiting the place so many times, I think I have had enough. Maybe, I need a beach break.

We are in the month of April and it means, a few days to the Aboakyer Festival which will start the first week in May. How of you Ghanaians are coming to witness?

Exams is just around the corner and we are eager to finish hard because of the unwanted stress we have acquired. We are going on long vac and get ready for our internships in the next academic year. I still haven’t actually decided where to have my internship. I hope to get a place before June.

The weather nowadays is hoooot! Hot, I tell ya! We are supposed to be entering into the rainy season by now, but it is directly the opposite. It is raining heat. As if the wind has come to a standstill. You might decide to sit outside, and yet, outside is hotter than the room. Sometimes, in the evening, the weather is a bit cool, but you just can’t sit outside, just because of mosquitos.

Bummer.

My fitness routine is still not I expect. I don’t know whether it is the academic pressure or something else, that is preventing me from working out. Speaking of academics, I wrote a Bollywood movie review, not too long ago. You can check out the review here.

Now, let's talk about avocado pears. Last year, a storm destroyed our beloved avocado tree, and I was super sad about it. This year, it is growing back beautifully but hasn't started bearing fruits yet. Ms. Cara has made me cry the more with her recipe. Meaning, I have to buy to make the recipe while I could have gotten the fruit for free!!!

Anyway, it doesn't matter. I have to try this. Looks DELICIOUS.

That's it for today's #keleweledate.

If you were to have a real kelewele date with me, what would you tell me?

Grab yourself some fan because the weather is indeed, hooooot.

Marietta DeGrant? ..... Present, please!

Hello world!

Good morning!!!

How are you all?

I miss this place! And I miss you!

I’m back! Back for good. I don’t think I will ever go on blogging break, again because I felt empty.

Oh it feels so good to be back!

So since this is the first post I am writing after I went on break, why don’t we do some life updates, huh?

On Campus Teaching Practice
We have started our pre-internship seminar and on-campus teaching practice and there are lots of mistakes we are making. We laugh at our own mistakes, after all, life is short. It is not easy to be a teacher. I feel teachers are unique, have great talents and should be blessed. I for one, I have problem with standing in front of people to talk. I have what I personally call, audiencephobia. It’s very pathetic but I hope it gets better time after time.

Holiday Vibes

For me, Friday 4th March, was the beginning of my holiday lifestyle. After the on-campus teaching practice, I rushed home to get ready for Saturday. That was the day my friends and I went to Aqua Safari Resort at Big Ada. The place is beautiful and peaceful. I hope one day, we all get time and money to go there again to visit and enjoy the place to the fullest.

The Rehab Centre

Disability is not inability.
One Wednesday, we visited the Accra Rehabilitation Centre. There, we learnt that everyone has a disability. If a blind man can read and interpret the braille with his fingers, but you can’t, your inability to do that is a disability. But you can learn it, therefore it’s not an inability.
Am I making sense??? Never mind.
Everyone is talented even those with special needs. Yes!

Best New Blog and Best Blogger

You know what? My blog was nominated as Best New Blog and Best Blogger. OMG!!!! I couldn’t believe it! Like seriously! I knew I was part of the long list of nominees, but when Blogging Ghana tweeted me that I was part of the shortlisted finalists, I was flabbergasted. I am in the same category as Ameyaw Debrah, the man I look up to. ……………..
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

20th March

A lot of activities went on on the 20th of March. First of all, it was Palm Sunday, and it was the crowning of the 174th Anniversary of the Relief Society of the Church I attend.

After, there was a birthday party of a great man. When the party ended, I got dressed to go watch the movie premiere of a two cast movie, Once in a Lifetime. I wrote the review of the movie here.

Easter Break

This Easter was a me-time holiday for me, I did not go out much and I did a catch up on movies that I have been piling up since after Christmas. At least, I did relax with a can of malt and that ginger drink they call lamojin.

Bad Hair Journey
My hair is in a poor state right now, and I am so upset about it. Now, I am reading lots of hair stories and posts like Cara’s own and others.

That is all the updates I have for you now. Anyway, I will never ever go on a blogging break again, unless I am ill, or travelling or something……..
See you soon.
Ps. Don’t forget to vote oo. Go here to vote for The Marietta DeGrant Blog as best new blog and Marietta DeGrant as best blogger. Confirm the link delivered in email to verify before you vote.
I still can’t believe I have been nominated. Wish me good luck!

Kelewele Date With Marietta (24/04/15) April Updates

Good morning.
It's early , I know right. Extremely early, but I'm travelling today with some friends from church for some religious activities. At least, as Christians, we need to set aside some time to serve Him, just like how we decide to go to church on Sundays, and any other day .

Let's have this date, then I'll get ready to go.

How was your Easter? Fantastic, for me. I wrote a post on how I spent my Easter break and I got to read other people's Easter break post. I even got to learn about the Eastern Orthodox calendar, and those who use this calendar celebrated the Easter a week after ours. Amazing.

7th April was World Health Day and in celebration of that, I wrote a post on my fitness routine.
But hey, did I tell you about my broken glass frame? While window shopping at the mall , it got broken. I was like , whoa! My second pair of eyes need to be repaired, ASAP. So I got a new one on a Friday. Lucky me.

A little bird told me, the Aboakyir festival would be live soon. We are patiently waiting and see how different it would be from the previous years.

Calling all writers!
I want you to try this. This website is calling all writers to participate in this EXTREMELY short story contest. It wants to challenge us of creating a great story in ten words or fewer, and the closing date is 18th May. How many of you have tried that? Writing a story in 5, 6, 10 words? Wow, like really? I want to try that. Let's do that challenge. It would be fun. *wink*wink*

In the month of May, the blog would be pretty busy. From festival updates to World Asthma Day to Mothers Day to long vacation plans to internship to one year anniversary of Maya Angelou (Gasps. So soon?) and others. This long vacation, the blog might be busy. Let's hope I get a laptop and a camera to do that, to get the blog busy.

So, you might ask, what's up with me? Well, I've become sort of discouraged and full of doubts for some time but I know that trials and adversities might come, but they won't stay for long. And I'll do what Jesus Christ said in Matthew 11:28-30

Anyway, that's it for today's kelewele date. What have you been up to? Don't forget, we'll continue on social media #keleweledate
