Friday Five (Blogtober Day 5)

Happy Friday!

I am always grateful for Friday. Fridays are the best day of the week. Life has been a little bit overwhelming and I am missing some chocolate, but I am slowly, slowly, trying to live life to the fullest and to slow down a little bit.

Anyway, what’s up with you? Today, let me tell you five things!

1. Blogtober has been painful this week. I nearly gave up but I have decided to continue. Kuukie is encouraging me indirectly. Don’t tell her or else, her head will become big…haha.😁

2. I have stopped working for free. For your information, I have volunteered way too much and I need money for internet so bye, if you are thinking of employing me without getting some sort of motivation and benefits. (I am giggling while writing this) πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

3. I have been nominated as UMB Most Influential Student Blogger. Text MBA MARIETTA to 1736 across all networks. Thankies in advance and muaahh. (Screenshot) πŸ’‹πŸ’‹πŸ’‹

4. I am hoping to write more poetry this month. I’m kinda behind in terms of writing poetry.

5. Finally…….shoutouts to Cephas! ✌✌✌

Let's Chat: Hello friends! What have you been up to???

p.s. No blogtober post tomorrow. Return on Monday for another Blogtober post. Sorry😑

FRIDAY VIBES

What makes my Friday the best?

Well, I guess when you have class early and by 11am or 12pm, everything is over and you rush to your home and scream TGIF. Yes!

What makes up the Friday vibes?
The drinks

The sweets

Kelewele after 8pm

Messy hair (Just because you have your hair-do on Saturdays)

Comfy clothes (on the bed to watch a movie, cartoon, or seasonal movie)

Family and friends coming home for the weekend (and catching up with news and planning on where to spend the weekend)

Unlimited internet (those of us who use the internet after 12am)

Music (the weekend is the only time I get to play music super loud)

The Friday Born, according to Creo’s Concept

My name is Afua, Afia, Afi. It is the name(s) given to a Ghanaian girl born on Friday.

Last two weeks or so, Creo’sConcept uploaded pictures and characteristics of girls born on each day. They really know how to put us in suspense. I know. They did it to me, uploading this image as Afua Friday morning.

I frowned. How can they do this to Friday born? But I felt from the beginning that, it was just a prank and they uploaded this later in the day.

They got us, didn’t they?

The Friday born is
A music lover
A deep thinker
Sensitive
Passionate
Talented!
And I totally agree!

Yes! It feels as if they interviewed me about my personality, which brought out the outcome.
I am a music lover. I can abuse music.

Meaning I can play music the whole time without getting tired.

Yes!

I am very sensitive. I even wanted them to add emotional to it.

Friday Borns Rock!

I have said it.

Kelewele Date with Marietta (27/02/2015) Loving Month

Hello, hello, hello!

Hello world!

So, how far? How that side? February is almost over and we are about to enter into the month of March, which is somehow, mostly about women.

The reason for this post:  We have a kelewele date darling.

The first thing I want to talk about is........you know now. St.Valentine's day! Yes, I went out with my homies and I've written a post about it here.

Songs I've loved this month were Beautiful Day by Jamie Grace and Not Even The King by Alicia Keys. And Bang Bang by Jessie J ft. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj is on repeat on my workout playlist.
One day, I decided to listen to an ABBA album I found back at home and it was playing Andante Andante. I listened and it was so poetic. I enjoy some of their music but never took the time to listen to the words. It had no meaning to me when I was little.

.....Touch me gently like a summer evening breeze........
.......let your body be the velvet of the night.......

Chorus:
I'm your music, I'm your song
Play me time and time again and make me strong
Make me sing, make me sound
Andante andante
Tread lightly on my ground
Andante andante
Oh please don't let me down

School has not been easy. Though, we are doing just  18 credit hours, a lot is involved, but with hard work and determination, we are going to beat them. Just have to reduce the number of leisure time and play.

My phone 's camera is not the type that likes to take pictures in the night. If you see my Valentine's post, the pictures were not of good quality. Plus when I went for my first night out this semester, my phone 's camera disappointed me

By the way, that's Mr. Noble Goodman, the singer songwriter of My Pillow and The Proposal

My workout routine has been on a good note but I still can't run for more than 2 minutes. I run about 3 times a week in the morning and get to do a little exercise when I have early morning lectures.

This is my favourite beauty product at the moment, Bactigel Hand Sanitizer.

That's it for today's kelewele date, but you know it continues on social media #keleweledate.
Don't forget to be fabulous in your walking, in your talking and in your dancing!!!

Stay sweet!!!
PS: Follow me on instagram and let's get inspired together

Kelewele Date with Marietta (28/11/14)

Hello again, darlings!

It’s another last Friday of the month and it only means one thing; Kelewele Date with Marietta!

Wow, November is fast! Or is it just me? December starts on Monday. And we have already started examination and you can head over here for survivingfinals week.

Let the date begin………

My fitness routine in the month of November is on a good roll. I never had the desire to keep fit. It just came into my mind (and heart?) to do it and I think I’m doing great, compared to those days that I did it once every four months! (Ha ha ha! Like seriously?)
I’m so excited for 2015 because of three reasons (Well, maybe there’s more);

  • ·         I’m writing a collection of poems with the title; Imperfections. Every month, I’ll post one poem from this anthology on the blog. I’m thinking of using my Tumblr account for my poetry.

  • ·         A collection of short stories (episodes) about a young writer  called Writer’s Problems

  • ·         I have written a 101 in 1001 days, and I can’t wait to start.

Christmas is coming and the blog would be having a Christmas Sparkle, which would start from tomorrow. Let’s watch out on the blog.

Exams have started and we’ve written 3 strong papers already. My next paper is Object Oriented Programming (JAVA) and I’m so scared. Programming is not my thing. In fact, I can’t wait for us to finish for us to go home for the Christmas break!

Speaking of Christmas, I haven’t started my Christmas shopping yet, but I will do soon. I’m still figuring out what to buy for Daddy. Any Christmas gifts suggestions for fathers?

As I mentioned before, I have a tumblr page and i don’t know what to do with it. I’m thinking of making it a poetry blog, but I’m still confused. What should I do?

So, to the writer’s in the house, is it just me or it happens to you too? Anytime, you are cleaning up your room, you can’t throw out anything in your room without checking to see if it has writing on it first.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving. So, how was it? We don’t really celebrate Thanksgiving in Ghana here, with the turkey and Black Friday and stuff, not really our thing.

But for being thankful, we always are. Five things I am thankful for are;
1.    I am thankful for my life
2.   I am thankful for a virtue called forgiveness
3.   I am thankful for the trials I’m going through in life. They are opening my eyes well.
4.   I am thankful for the great friends I have in Winneba
5.   I am thankful that I am a writer.

And to talk of Christmas, I am waiting for it. My birthday is on Christmas day and i can’t wait to celebrate it. I am planning to do some acts of kindness.

Anyway, I have to end it now. I’m having exams, but hey, we have a lot to talk about on our next date, which is the 26th of December, right? Yeah!

It doesn’t end though, you know that!

#keleweledate on all social media

Adios!

PS; A quote to start having the Christmas Spirit

Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly Merry Christmas

Kelewele Date with Marietta

Well, hello there!
Yeah, I know right!
It’s not my fault oo!
You see, I’m being deprived of electricity. Ghana is currently under construction, in terms of electricity. And my laptop is still ill and about to undergo surgery, so………… sorry guys!

But today, I have something for you. *wink*
Today, we are having a date and in this date we would eat kelewele with a glass of sobolo drink sometimes. Every last Friday of every month, we would meet right here to talk about all things! (Except for politics, of course) to make it more interactive every time and anywhere we go, use #keleweledate on all social media and we’ll chat! (I love chatting by the way). Because we are F.R.I.E.N.D.S in this cyberspace world.
To you, my foreign friends, kelewele is a local Ghanaian dish (or snack) which is ripe plantain cut into smaller sizes and spiced up with spices and fried. (Sounds delicious, right?). Sobolo is also a local wine colour chilled drink (The recipes would come to you later).

Have you ever wondered why British singers lose their accent when singing? I have been thinking about that too.
During my internship, my supervisor asked the team to search for health tips. I was excited to do it. Then I read one that amazed me; you can actually whiten your teeth by………… (You want to hear it or you’ve already heard it before. I’m probably the last person on earth to know)………just rubbing the inside of the banana peel on your teeth. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m willing to. Sooner!
So, how has your semester been? Is it going on smoothly? What about your new school year resolutions? Well, I’ve broken one. In my new school year resolutions post , I said I’ll visit the beach often. Well, I’ve been to the beach like 3 or 4 times since school resumed and it’s not as many times as I promised to visit. It’s not too late to go back to go back and fulfill it.
My mother asked me to write a poem for her with the title, “A Prayer for Me” and I’m finally done. I don’t know, but it took me like 3 months to write it. Though I’m done, it looks like I still feel, I need to go back and do some editing. I’ve given it to her and she liked it, but I still feel I need to add or remove something. Is there any writer in the house? Do you sometimes feel that way after writing a story, poem, article or even a blog post?
Oopsie! I’ve got to go and my kelewele is even finished. My roommate and I just finished it up! (I don’t spare kelewele you know.)She’s actually somehow part of this conversation.
I wish to continue talking but I just got a call from a friend saying he wants with talk to me! I hope he has some money to share with me, LOL, just kidding! I feel like a mother already! J But we can continue on social media.
#keleweledate
See ya!
